I'm trying to determine if I'm paranoid or if I've been bit by a snake oil salesman. We found some nice hard wood for a decent price from Texas traditions from a local flooring company. We borrowed a nice sample from the store from a seemingly knowledgeable salesman. When I went to look them up, they don't have a functioning web site, and the Google Street photo is scary as hell. When we returned the sample I asked these questions and the salesman was very adamant they are a reputable company. He said even Nebraska furniture Mart carries them. Well. If they do it does not show up on their web site.My concern is this is a cash and carry deal so once I take it it's my problem. I can't possibly open every box and make sure they are all correct, of consistent quality, color, etc .. I'm not paying an extra 3.50 SQ ft for basic install either - that's insane for a floated floor. (I plan on gluing)In the past I've ignored yellow flags and they turned out to bite me in the back side.Price is slightly under$3 SQ ft so not a steal by any means but decent for a hickory based engineered wood. (Medium sized dogs so need durability)Am I expecting too much from 'just a flooring company'? A website seems like table stakes these days. There are only 3 reviews on Google - I assume they are employees since the one I checked it is his only review. We still have a few other local shops to check for other options but floor shopping is an absolute beating.A penny for your -constructive- thoughts. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/31TdqEb
