I have an LG G5 that is showing its age and shopped to change for a new phone. I paid this phone used 100 CAD$ two years ago, which seemed as a good deal at the time, and planned to buy something at a similar price. Started looking for two years old phones, and I've beend surprised to larn that S8 are - still - sold easily for 300$ CAD. Looked for a mid-range phone from last year instead, hoping to get a deal, started to look at A50 or A70, 250 and 350 respectively. Worst, their price didn't decrease much since they were annouced. Just looked for my LG G5 online: I'm pretty sure I could get 100$ even if it's pretty bad condition. The price of old phone increased, it's like phone have become and investment.

Inflation into the phone market is C-R-A-Z-Y. And it's not free-market-driven: we let the companies sell us very expansive phones. It's not like if phone we're doing much more than a few years ago. I never wanted to pay more than 100$ for a phone two years from now, and I'll now I feel I'll have to pay three times that to get something reasonably durable.

What can I do?
