Sorry up front for the wall of text. I am a resident in Minnesota of college age. I took this semester off of University in order to save money for college and need advice on what my best options are right now. I pay all of my bills and expenses, but I missed out on the $1200 stimulus package due to still being listed as "dependant" on my and my parent's tax return. I got laid off of both my restaurant jobs a few weeks ago and accepted 2 weeks of unemployment payments (ballpark of $125 each). However on April 1st I started working a warehouse job (despite being wayy out of my expertise and being very concerned for my health being asthmatic) to better my chances of returning to school as I'd make far more than $125 a week. A couple days ago my friends who didn't get new jobs received $750+ dollar checks in unemployment from the state of minnesota that I was not eligible for due to my 19 hours of work during that week. I am frustrated because it seems as I missed out on $500+ dollars for getting a job. Do I quit my job and start claiming unemployment again? Am I able to do that? Should I keep working my new warehouse job in hopes of a relief package for workers? I know this sounds greedy of me, but I'm simply trying to maximize my earning while staying safe during this madness. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
