I work at a large Company that has an incredibly structured promotion / eoy cycle. Through some sleuthing, I found out individuals up for promotion are eligible for between a 8-12% increase.
I went up for promotion at the end of the year, and was automatically recommended for the middle amount for promotion. I asked my manager if there was a specific reason that I did not deserve the 12%. Manager updated the pay increase form to get approved for 12%. That 30 min discussion earned me 2k.
Do your due diligence. Ask for things because you won’t receive them otherwise. Take control of your career and finances.
