Hi r/DIY,Last year i built a wooden swing gate to go over my driveway. For the Load Bearing Gate Post i used an 8' 6x6 post set in concrete. I just noticed there is a split in the post going from the top straight down on the inside of the post.I would like to take some preemptive steps to keep this from becoming a larger issue. My idea was to try and fill the crack as best i could with wood glue and sink 4 or 5 lag bolts in from the other side to try and pull it together/provide support.Would this method work or is there something else i can try? via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2LwXnGV
