HiIm currently in the process of rennovating the stairs in my house. Previous owners had tacked a laminate to the stairs.I have removed all this laminate, exposing the original wood of the stairs. The end goal is to have white painted stairs and a carpet runner that runs through the landing and down the stairs.Up to now, I have stripped the stairs & bannister of old paint, removed tacks and nails. I will be going over each step with wood filler, and sanding down the risers, treads and skirting boards in preparation for painting. My question is what paint is advised for use on bare stair wood? I have seen a number of sites recommend Undercoat, other recommend Wood Primer. Some suggest that I should consider what paint I intend on using to finish the stairs to inform if i should use undercoat or primer. I'm conscious of the stairs being slippery, but the carpet runner should take care of that being a problem.Ultimately I know i'd like a finish on the stairs that is durable, doesn't mark (much) and easily cleaned. I dont want a glossy glossy paint, but I cant seem to find an answer that is definitive on the types of paint recommended for this purpose.Wondered if anyone on here has undergone this job and could recommend anything, products to get/avoid or any advice is greatly welcomed. Thanks! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2I8HbZo
