Last weekend I decided to fix and repaint a wall that wasn't looking great, so I headed to Home Depot and got a quart of paint. Since I was there I also got a roll, some brushes, a tray, the usual stuff. In the middle of the process I realized I needed an extra brush and decided to check the local dollar store to see what I could find there.
To my surprise not only they had paint brushes, there was a considerable range of tools for very cheap. Level, ruler, tape measure, screwdriver, basic home tools that I had mostly paid $5-$10 for each one you can get from the dollar store for $1.
Obviously use your best judgement and don't be cheap on safety items, but don't skip your local dollar store for small home project essentials.
