At the moment I’m living in student accommodation, in a one-bedroom studio with an en-suite and kitchenette. The only problem is, the walls are very thin and so if I’m on the phone or watching videos late at night, anything as loud as a quiet speaking voice causes me to get messages from my neighbour asking me to turn it down. I’m on good terms with my neighbours, so I don’t want to take the “I don’t care, I’ll do it anyway” route, so is there any way I could soundproof the adjoining wall between me and my neighbour to block the sound from reaching them? I was thinking of putting a soundproof blanket on the wall, but this wall is also right above my kitchenette so I’m a little worried that the landlord might say that it’s a fire hazard.
