The carpet in my house is NASTY. It was pretty bad when I moved in, but it's only gotten worse over the years. Aside from the numerous torn and frayed sections, it's also got a lot of pet and food stains that will not come out.
I recently found out that I have a child on the way. I definitely don't want our new addition to be crawling on this thing. I measured approx. 920 sqft of carpeted space. Factoring in the recommended 20% of waste, that comes to roughly 1100 sqft of new carpet needed, or 2 to 3 thousand bucks worth of carpet and padding at a place like lowes. I can likely do the install myself if I can get my dad to help me.
What are some cheaper options? I would prefer carpet, but I'm not entirely opposed to alternatives like wood flooring with some throw rugs. Are there cheaper places where I can get a discount on carpet or other types of flooring? Thanks.
