I apologize for not giving out more info as some close friends and family members might be on reddit and can put two and two together.

Wife was diagnosed with medical condition sometime ago that changed our lives forever. Its not fatal but is something that will eventually end up with her being disabled, unless the medication can kick it into remission or at least under control. We have a kid and we want to ensure that we are able to provide as much as we can for the kid's future - so we have taken out term life insurance in case something happens.

We have doing some research on disability insurance as well and wanted to know what Reddit has to offer in terms of do's and dont's as its too confusing to rely on 'agent' who may not have our best interests in mind. We have some savings and enough emergency fund (for 6 mo) and starting to save for a house down payment but are now thinking if we should direct those funds towards disability insurance. We cannot have both and wife will be changing her job in the next 6-9 months, so employer offered disability insurance will be an option at that time. Currently she doesnt have one being offered to her.

We are just looking for some perspective here. Is there any one that can relate to our situation and has taken disability insurance chime in? Any suggestions would be helpful.
