Whether its getting my car repaired or my home's A/C unit fixed, I have no idea how to judge whether or not a contractor is giving me a fair deal. I try to look-up comparative prices, but for relatively obscure projects, the internet isn't as useful. What is the most effective way to gauge a fair price for services provided by contractors?
