I totally realize this is a very tight budget for both a mattress and a frame, but this is what I have to work with right now and I just need something temporary. Anything, really.

I still want to buy something quality though.

So in the $200ish range there are options available through Amazon. I'm mainly looking at this Zinus Ultima memory foam mattress (either twin or twin xl) and this Zinus wood slat frame (if only twin) or this PrimaSleep steel slat frame (if twin xl).

My main questions are:

  • Would anyone recommend anything else that would be of better quality in the same price range?
  • Any major differences between a wood slat or steel slat frame?
  • I also hear the spacing between the slats is important. The Zinus wood slat frame has slightly under 3" between each slat, and I hear under 3" between each is good. The PrimaSleep steel slat frame has nearly 8" between each slat, which seems like too much spacing to me, but maybe steel slats are different than wood slats and require less spacing?

Thanks for any and all help! I know this is a tight budget and this sub is about buying for life. In reality, this isn't really buying for life for me. This is just about getting the best I can for my tight circumstances at the moment.
