I just started a new job for a consulting company, and I was sent to oversee a project at one of the companies they were hired to work for. I am a fulltime employee with vacation, and all that stuff for the consulting company.

The consulting company has a very limited holiday schedule. I get 6 days total of paid holidays, but the company I got sent to gives their employees 20ish paid holidays a year. I was told that when that company I am consulting for has their own company holiday, I either have to get permission from that company to work from home, and if I cannot, then I am forced to take PTO.

That doesn't seem fair or legal for me to potentially be forced to use nearly all my vacation days just to match what the company I am consulting for gives it's employees.

This basically makes it impossible for me to go on an actual vacation because most of my PTO days will be used just to match 1-2 days off for the company I am consulting for.

tl;dr - consulting company I work for says I have to use PTO on days the company I am consulting at gives off to their employees. Is that legal?
