I thought I'd crosspost this mention of a wonderful book. I find it apropos for simple living. The book is: Going Solo: The Extraordinary rise and Surprising Appeal of Living Alone. I'm just finishing up the audiobook today.
Really a nice book, comforting, and anyone would benefit from it, living alone or not. I think it's comforting to not feel alone and this book brings that comfort. Helps in the stoicism arena of life. We are all going through it, we are not alone (even when alone).
I'm married, but was alone much of my life. I still feel alone and part of it is wife off to work and our different schedules. Regardless, the book brought me comfort when I am alone, or feel alone, and in living a stoic life. And if we are in a relationship, we often are alone in our physical and mental and emotional ways. We have our own compartment of life to live. As people get older, this often increases.
Stoicism and simple living often go together for a lot of people. Add in living alone, or feeling alone. Having a simple life is very nice, alone or not. Often it is or may come to pass.
I love a simple life and dearly practice it now that I'm older and really appreciate slowing down. There's a lyric from the Neil Young song, "The Painter." The line goes: "If you follow every dream. You might get lost".
