Hey Reddit,
Need some advice on what to do next? how to utilize the money I saved up.
Background:
-27 yrs old male
-college graduated with Economics B.A.
-currently working as a mail carrier in Post Office.
-Thinking to go back to school in the near future.
-living in San Jose, CA (Rent eats more than 1/2 of my monthly income)
-No debts...(except 2-3 medical bills of <$500)
Obstacles:
-Supporting my older brother to finish his nursing school. Need another 2-3 yrs
(Not too willing to switch jobs due to fear of losing a stable income source)
-I don't have any valuable/market-appreciated skill sets.
(like programming/hands-on knowledge of house repair/constructions)
-Got parents oversea planning to take care of in case they have critical illness
(Not highly possible, but still one of the biggest fear.)
Goals:
-Getting a degree/some valuable skill sets that could land me a job in medical field.
-Getting enough money to buy my own property... be it a condo or a house.
Resources available now:
-70k in saving
-income from my job
Questions:
What should I do from here?
How should I utilize money I save up?
Thought about investing into stocks...yet don't know what stocks should I invest on.
Thought about buying a property in a less expensive area (like Sacramento...)
yet it seems the money I saved up just won't be able to cover all the possible expenses (mortgage/maintenance cost/taxes...etc)
What should I do from here? I am so lost....
I am at a situation where I could utilize money I saved up, yet not too much benefit will come out. But just let this amount of money sitting in bank would be such a waste...
