I know this is a little unorthodox, but I would love to take some time while I still have some vitality left in life to go off on my own and enjoy true solitude. As much as I enjoy modern living and all of the associated niceties, I am extremely excited at the prospect of spending an extended amount of time completely alone. The longest I have gone without any human interaction in the wilderness has been around 3 months or so during the winter months. While there is a chance I may have to return to civilization after a short period, I still would like the opportunity to try it out for a full year at least.
Currently I have ~$2.5M worth of assets with the majority being in brokerage accounts. I have truly enjoyed trading stocks and options to the point where I am looking forward to the next set of plays regardless of my performance. My desire for solitude does not stem from dissatisfaction with my financial situation or anything else major in my life. This is just something that I feel compelled to experience before I kick the bucket.
However, if I do strike out on my own for an extended period of time, I would want to make sure my assets are secured. Friends and family are not an option in terms of transferring control of my account and my financial advisor is very hesitant to make any major recommendations at this point, though she is looking into some options.
I was wondering if anyone out there has done something like this? I do not mind selling my house, liquidating my positions and finding a good spot to stop my option spread trading, but there are a ton of things to consider. There may be something simple and easy that my financial advisor and I are overlooking.
