I’ve had to dispute 3 credit card charges in about a year.
One with Amex for a fraudulent charge - someone in the Virgin Islands rented a car for $350 using our info.
Two with Citibank (Costco Card)- one was for an item never received. Worked with the merchant and with the post office to locate the package, but it couldn’t be found. Merchant refused refund. Second was today for an item received broken. I worked with the vendor on a return and they agreed to take it back but never sent the return shipping label. Both of these purchases were $75-80.
I disputed the charges with Citibank online and both were immediately resolved with a permanent credit to my account. What exactly happened here? Is Citibank eating those costs or are they actually issuing a chargeback with the merchant?
Also, with the item received broken, am I responsible for returning the item to the merchant still? I still don’t have the RMA from the merchant.
