Hello,
So i lived up in MA in an apartment in a central city. The only company that serviced gas to that apartment was a company called Eversource (Was NSTAR). I moved out in August 2017, called them in Sept and told them that i moved and want the service transferred in the name of the landlord (So he didn't lose heat) They happily did this and i paid my last month's bill during this time.
Well come this morning i get an email for disconnect of services, the only email i have ever received from this company, ever. Attached is a bill for 750 dollars. So i call up the company, explain that the service was stopped and transferred in Sept, they ask for confirmation. I dont have any type of confirmation? I have a document from my old landlord explaining when i left and that i was a good tenant in good standing, but that wasn't enough. They said there was nothing they would do and to contact the Landlord.
I called the landlord, he said he would call the gas company and explain to them that i moved in Aug and that a transfer of service request was made in Sept. Only issue is? I dont trust him to do that.
I never ever received a bill from this utility, just had to call and find out my bill, i never received an email, a phone call or any other alert of notification. When i mentioned this to them the supervisor stated "Well it is not the Utility Company's job to haunt ever customer for a bill." ... since when? If im late on my electric or car they will hunt me down like a wild turkey.
Im just not sure what to do, i offered all information i have, change of address with postal services, new license in a different state, new lease agreement, proof of bill being paid in sept. They admitted to getting postage back from the post office. They said they will accept none of it and will be issuing this account into collections come april. What do i do!?
