I woke up this morning to an email from my credit card company that they saw some fraudulent activity on my account and needed me to call in. I did and they said there were 4 charges, 3 as some Technology services company (1 got through, 2 denied), and 1 at a bank trying to withdraw (got denied). I let them know it wasn't me and talking with them made me realize I got an email that my credit card was being updated (got the email 12 days ago) and still didn't have the card. They confirmed somebody activated the card, and they received a phone call from my # which promptly hung up. I'm really worried on 2 fronts,

  1. Since the card was used in my city and they activated it in my city, is there any chance fraud detection won't have enough to overturn these chargers and I might be held liable still?

  2. Since somebody spoofed using my cell phone #, is it possible they have even more info about me? Is there anything I can do to prevent somebody spoofing from my #?
