Hello Buyers for Lifers!
I live in a very cold place with harsh winters. I moved here about 7 years ago and as soon as I did I purchased a pair of Sorel boots.

Now I had been told that Sorel's have a lifetime guarantee, and everyone around here swore by them. I was told by many people how they bought their Sorel's ten plus years ago so not to worry. So I felt really good about dropping the money on them. $150 is a lot for me. Within the first year the rubber upper started to crease as I would walk, and by the second winter they split. I contacted Zappos about this, and they told me to go to Sorel. So I contacted Sorel, and they informed me that they had been bought by Columbia and no longer honored the lifetime warranty of their boots bought after the merger.
So now we are on winter number six. I have shoe glued, gooped and tried to fix these boots but they are done. I work outside during the winter and my feet are wet and freezing.
So what boots don't suck? What boots can I get for $200 or less that ACTUALLY last. I have come to the realization that the people who had these Sorel's for so long were wearing them for the fashion, not as a day to day snow stomper.
I want warm feet, as comfortable as possible (these boots weren't very comfortable to begin with) and ideally not super ugly.
HELP ME r/buyitforlife, you're my only hope!
