I just learned about http://ift.tt/2wiyjYN and it (or competing alternatives) make total sense and my friend validates that it works. Worth considering for those who run A/C a lot.

Of course, better than a 30% reduction in power consumption is a 100% reduction. You do that by not running the A/C, and you stay cool otherwise with stuff like http://ift.tt/1LRS6AJ as well as fans blowing on you directly to stay comfortable (and drinking ice water etc).

In my case, I'm going to note the Cool-n-Save for reference but not use it yet. We installed exterior shades where the sun hits most and open all the windows at night and have fans to cool the house, and so we avoid using the A/C other than when the temperature here goes toward or over 100°.

But others in areas that are hotter more should consider the Cool-N-Save
