First time poster - apologies in advance for any vagueness or poor formatting, not to mention the length of this.

I work in the aviation industry as part of the Operations Control Center.

My job is shift work and can be high stress, dealing with flight disrupt on top of everything else. Essentially, my team is the cleanup.

As well as corresponding with finance to make sure people get their refunds on time, resolving escalations that are outside the templative training of our call center, general admin, calculating reimbursement, investigating accusations made by passengers, corresponding with staff/pilots/managers and organizing duty and leisure travel for staff we also have to source all the recovery for our passengers in the event everything goes to shit.

Base pay is 54k.

They recently created a new social media team for our airline. They respond to basic complaints via online platforms and when it's outside of their templative training, it gets hand balled to my team. Every day they ask us questions. They have no aviation background (unlike my team) and need a lot of help with systems and product knowledge.

Their base pay is 56k.

Now when we are in major disrupt eg we lose an aircraft and entire line of flying due to an engineering fault, the office is mayhem. We are an office of disrupt coordinators, ops controllers, crewing and engineers and we all work tirelessly to fix the problem and get passengers where they have to be.

The social team just watch YouTube videos, go and get take out and answer any new posts that come through on Facebook if they can.

Don't get me wrong - when everything is running smoothly, we all get some nice downtime! But there is no responsibility on their shoulders - they are just about online presence.

If my team disappeared, the operation would suffer greatly. No one would blink if we lost the social team.

Now I have a group staff meeting with our boss and we all would like to address the opportunity to have our base pay reviewed as we feel we deserve more comparatively, and we have no idea how to approach this...

Any help on how to phrase the request or who to approach would be greatly appreciated!

TL;DR social media team with minimum operational responsibility is getting paid more than my team, which the operation is dependent on to function. How does my team approach requesting a review and possible raise in base pay?
