She is very much alive.

The tl;dr is the title.

She received a letter in the mail from the DOD (department of defense) addressed to the estate of [her name] stating that they had been notified by SS (social security) of her passing. She received this letter because my late grandfather (who passed away in April) was in the military and as his widow she's entitled to his VA checks. She had to go out and get a form noterized stating that she is still alive. My father is going to mail out the form (after making copies) back to the DOD and is going to contact SS on my grandmother's behalf. The letter stated that it could take up to 15 days to process. Which means that it could be upwards of, potentially, a month or more before she starts to receive that income again (plus any and all back pay).

What are her options to help get this resolved quicker? Does she have any options besides waiting? These are her only sources of income.
