I love computers. I have always wanted to build a PC using nothing but parts I have ripped out of ones people tossed aside.
Unfortunately at my local dump, it is illegal to take the computer towers that people toss there.
My thinking is that a lot of people who aren't so well-versed in technology would throw away a computer regardless of what is inside the tower, not realizing the value of some of the parts they have thrown away. These people are my target demographic for salvage.
Since the dump is a bust (legally speaking), where else should I try looking? I have already covered ebay and craigslist in my locality along with border states and there is nothing worthwhile (free firewood, anyone? fill dirt?) for me.
Also, dumpster diving (where it is legal to do so) is not out of the question.
