I am having difficulty finding an answer for this and was hoping someone knew. I took an unpaid leave from work in January to care for my mother full time in hospice at her home. My parents provide sleeping space and food, but I am using my savings for my monthly bills like insurance, etc. They are on limited income themselves. She has actually improved since entering hospice, but still requires constant care. She could be in hospice for quite some time and I'm the only family member happily willing to care for her. I will not leave her to strangers.
The job I took leave from is basically what I do here for my mom so I am perfectly qualified to care for her, but I hold no licensing of any sort. Was just an hourly worker. I'm not trying to be greedy or selfish. My savings will eventually be depleted and I will most likely not have a tax return next year to put into savings like usual. This is what I'm living on this year. Medicare would pay for care workers to come here, but would they pay a little for me to do the same and who do I contact? Or any other ideas for a bit of income while I am here? I'm pretty much house bound so could do some work from here but I can't really plan blocks of time at certain times of the day either. Sorry for length. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
