Firstly--I do plan to talk to lawyer, I just wanted to get an opinion from the internet first. I'm 27 and live in Arizona.

My situation:

I have 28k personal debt, and 22k student loan debt. Out of that 28k, 5k is for medical and eviction bills. The rest is split across 7 credit cards/companies. I haven't made any payments on anything in over a year (I originally thought I would just file for bankruptcy back then, but since I had nothing to take, I was in no rush to act--it still hasn't really affected my life except for the constant phone calls, since again, I have nothing.) I've completely ignored it this whole time.

By now all the debt has been sold off to wherever, and although I've been keeping the collections letters, I have no idea where all the debt even is anymore. I had one judgment served against me about 6 months ago. Today I am unable to even get a bank account--I've been denied twice, but I still have a paypal which is the only way I can store money at the moment. I am unemployed but I do make about 1k a month from sales on a digital product, under contract with the hosting marketplace website to sell the content. But that is just enough to pay my phone bills, various work-related subscriptions, car insurance, etc. I moved back home, currently rent-free. I imagine if I had a bank direct deposit job, the wages would be garnished, but since I get paid through paypal, it hasn't been affected.

Now, I'm trying to push those sales this year, and honestly think I can get up to 2k-3k a month by the end of the year. So my questions are:

Would the collectors eventually get court approval to garnish my paypal income, or is it safe because paypal isn't technically a bank?

Is bankruptcy the best route for this debt, or if I can get to the point where my income has a surplus each month to try and find where the debt is and make a deal with the collectors? Which would have the longer term impact? How would I handle making the deals?
