College student, I think upper middle class (parents have been within a bracket of $80k and $250k).

When I was a kid I wasn't allowed to have money. If I wanted or needed something, my parents made the decision (most of the time it was no, and my household doesn't spend willy nilly either. People are getting the impression that I'm a spoiled rich kid) and purchased it. I didn't ask for too much anyhow.

In college I've got a $9k per semester scholarship. My tuition was paid off over a decade ago (thanks to my parents).

I pay my own rent but that comes out to little.

Money doesn't mean much to me, and I spend it very casually when I want.

My bike was stolen, so I went out and bought a $525 bike. I buy stuff on amazon that attracts my fancy. I eat out a lot because I'm too lazy to cook. I like thinking about stuff I'm going to buy a lot.

My credit card bill is about $500 a month mostly due to eating out, but this also ranges from $400 to $700 depending on my purchases that month

I was thinking about it, and I think this is wrong. I need to be more conscious of my spending, but I was thinking - I may be able to do that, rein myself in and restrict my spending - but money means very little to me still.

Some friends of mine will reconsider going to the movies because $15 means something to them.

I might choose not to go, but at the drop of a dime I can go. Nothing mentally holds me back.

One part of it may be that I've never held a job - but I think even if I did, I wouldn't really care about the salary or my spending because again, it doesn't really matter

Can anyone help? This isn't a healthy mentality for going forward obviously

TL;DR: Seeing as this is necessary - I'm not a spoiled POS. I'm a student who just happens to have an immature and unhealthy relationship with money, perhaps due to how my parents parented, circumstances of being relatively privileged, or my just being a dickhead. Either way, I need to educate myself here, because $500/month on miscellaneous stuff at my age (it's mostly food, and shit on amazon. I bought a new water bottle the other day for $20. I also bought my 3rd pair of headphones for $60. If my friends wanted to eat out three night in a row, I would happily go without even asking questions or deliberating.) **That's the problem.

EDIT: aside from paying my tuition 16 years ago, my parents don't really currently provide for me (not that we're cut off or anything, I just don't need money from them). I just pay for whatever I need/want out of my scholarship money, which is 9k a semester
