Poor grammar but I need help. I've been offered a job as a Project Manager. All the obvious red flags pop up ( I don't remember applying, I have no experience as a PM, nor was that even my field of study), but I email back that I'm interested because it pays 90k and the email address seemed legit (wasn't a Yahoo/Gmail). This is where it gets weird. The next email is a long one. An extremely detailed job description, complete with the companies website and instructions on how to apply. The website was alright, even though the color layout was plain and the photos looked stock, it had no spelling errors or contradictions, and the website had their contact information, mission statement, and the application process was easy to find and all I had to do was submit was my resume. The next day I got offered a phone interview. I scheduled it for the following day, and promptly received a phone call from "HR". The man, who had a weird accent (caller ID said it was from New York, sure this is easy to make up though?), asked me a few questions: What qualities do I see a Project Manager having?, Have I ever failed at anything, and how did I respond to this failure?, etc. The interview seemed so real! And of course I get selected for the job. The next interview outlines the next step in the process: I was going to get an email from the head of the company's HR, who was going to email my pre-employment training agreement (this stated my schedule and how I would be paid $2000 at the end of it, along with some more clarifications on the job, i.e. 90k a year 7.5k, once a month), and set up my training, free of charge of course (because, why would they charge me? This is an honest company!). This is where I panicked. Before I replied with a picture of me signing the training agreement and confirming what date I would like to commence training (by the way, it's a month long, dunno if I mentioned that), I had to finally do some serious research. I began with the company. I called the HR number all the emails had, no answer. This was the US number on their website (even though they sponsor companies like Coca-Cola and Chevy the company originated overseas, thus their explanation for why no one had been able to contact me by phone yet), so next I called their UK line, a number in Sweden, and got no answer. The China number was also disconnected. Research about their website showed it originated in the Ukraine. There was also no information about the company online, even searching for their name and "spam" showed nothing. Looking up the people I had been in contact with, as well as the name of their president, who's name was signed on my training document, showed nothing. The scariest thing of all is that they know where I live, and claimed to be opening up an office at a building in the downtown area of my city, further making me believe that perhaps, it really is true. So I agreed to the training process, which starts this Friday, the 27th. Hey, it was free, why not. I have not given them any serious information, so I'm not too worried, just wondering what the next step will be, promising myself not to get dragged to deep in this. I'm getting a call from head HR guy today at noon ET. Now for my question to you all: Is there anything I can ask this guy to help prove him as a fraud? I'm thinking I can ask him about his company's license, why they don't have LLC beside their name (something I read online). Also, why does their name, neither the company's or the people's, show up online? And why is their phone not answering?! And what is up with the China and UK lines, and what number can I call to reach the building you're moving into? WHY DID YOU OFFER ME THIS JOB, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS! Swear I almost feel as if I should post this on /r/nosleep because it's all I can think about right now. I promise to post pictures of my emails if anyone can help me, but for now I can give you the company's website. http://smlagency.com/
