Hi.
Background: 18 y/o NYU student on scholarship but still taking out ~30,000/yr in PLUS loans to be able to attend. (Studying: pre-med and Photography).
I've had jobs all throughout high school to be able to spend money comfortably but I foolishly didn't make any sort of savings for myself. Now, living in NYC, I get a very small allowance per month from my parents (they're in no financial position to provide more than they already do) and originally had a very small part time job working only ~4 hours a week. This wasn't enough to cover the costs of living in the city and I accrued about $600 in credit card debt during this time.
Going into second semester, I will have two jobs working a reasonable number of hours and I also worked through winter break and (after an emergency payment) will have about $500 left over to myself at the start of the semester. What would be the smartest way to budget my money that I make, while possibly saving/investing to make a little extra cash in addition to my two jobs. I might add that I've been in a very "spendy" mindset (ruminating over things I want to buy when I have money) lately despite being frugal with the little money I do currently have.
Thanks in advance.
