My father had dementia and took out $60k in cc debt in his name only to presumably “hide it” from my mother. Yes, financial infedity is awful and I hate that he did it. Anyways, a few months before he died, they consolidated the debt since the cc payments were ballooning. Few months of consolidated payments, he dies. Now the actual CC companies are sending bills to my mother and she is freaking out since the advisor from the consolidation company said she owed nothing since the cc’s were in my fathers name only. Does my mother have to pay? Any info would be appreciated.
