I got a quote from an insurance agent for a bundle home and auto. However, she told me that my auto was going to be much higher because I didn’t have insurance for a month.

I explained that I didn’t have insurance because I got into a car accident where the car was totaled. I was not at fault and the other party’s insurance paid out. Because I didn’t have a car and not sure when I could buy a car I cancelled my policy. It was a total of 30 days. The day I got a car, I got insurance.

She’s telling me that’s illegal to not have car insurance in Texas even if I don’t have a car…is that accurate? Google hasn’t given me an answer.
