I always thought retail investors like us never have a chance to profit on earnings and everything was priced in. Whatever is on the news is already reflected on the price blablabla. So I did an experiement and monitoring the earning news.
Givin the NVDA price was $680 before earnings, no one have advance information before the announcement.
I use WOC Street and recevied the news notification and summary at 4:24 pm, 4 mins after the NVDA earning announcement and saw price was trending up.
After seeing the price start rising, I decided to ride the wave at 4:29.
Submitted market order around $704~712/share on Robinhood after-hour market. Went to $740 soon after and made a healthy profit.I think if you can filter out the noise, there are still opportunities as you can trade post market hours these days. A lot of announcements are released post market hours. Retail traders are not much behind the professionals if you monitor this type of opportunity closely.
Sharing the experiement with the community. What do you think about post market news?
