My parents are going through a separation and my mom has found out that my dad froze her credit. She wants to be able to get her own credit card separate from their joint account, but isn’t able to. She’s called Experian, Equifax, and Transunion and was able to lift the freeze on Experian. The other two send confirmation texts to my dads phone number (she believes) and won’t allow her to life the freeze.
My mom makes good money, but has always let my dad handle the money. I’m not even sure if she knows what bank/s they used.
How does she go about unlocking her credit? Is there a person at these agencies she can talk to and answer security questions to have it unfrozen? Her attorney says it is illegal to freeze another persons credit, but she does not want to involve the police…yet.
