This may be too specific of a question for this sub, but I don't know where else to ask it. My work will not cover my wife on our family health insurance plan since her work offers a plan through her work. The unique thing about our situation is that her work will give her a full cash payout for a family plan if she gets her insurance somewhere else. That amount is about $21,000. If she should get her insurance through me, we'd be adding $21,000 to our income! Even if I were to add her to my family plan at an unsubsidized rate of say $1,000 per month JUST FOR HER we'd be $9,000 ahead. Has anyone ever come across this? Is there any loophole that I can use to add her? Can I contact the insurance company directly and ask to add her to my plan and just pay them a premium on the side?
