Novice investor here with a question for my more experienced colleagues. Say you decided to buy 50 shares of XYZ for a buy and hold. XYZ value has been increasing overall for the last 5-10 years, is a company that pays dividends and is a company you believe in. How do you decide when to add more shares in your portfolio?
Do you wait for a substantial pullback? Do you keep adding on a schedule no matter the price? Do you buy on a pullback while the price is rising? (eg. bought at $10 - price reaches $15 - you wait for the price to come down to a lower level say $13 and buy) Do you add on the way up?
Do you do different things depending on how the market is performing? You do something else?
