Can anyone help me understand this? Concrete reasons for price movements would be best, rather than wishy washy hand waving stuff.
On 3-2-23, citigroup announced it will be paying off employees. This happened around mid day. I would imagine this news event should result in a stock price movements. Perhaps a decrease in the price.
There was a significant decrease in the price, but it happened at the opening price. Why is this. Was there some other news event? Was the insider trading due to knowledge of the layoffs before the announcement? Or was it announced in a different forum first overnight? I searched all the news outlets and Twitter and didn't see anything.
