Hi all! I saw a tutorial of how someone had the option to buy stocks in share quantities or dollar amount (the latter allowed you to buy fractional shares in the exact dollar amount inputted). I invest with TD Ameritrade and found out that broker doesn’t allow the purchasing of fractional shares — this means I always have "leftover" money from the fixed amount I transfer into my broker account every month. If you were in my shoes, what would/can you do with that leftover money after buying full shares of selected stocks?
As an example: Say I transfer $1K each month to put into my stock investments. For each month, I have a set goal of putting e.g. 10% of that $1K in BND and 90% of that $1K in VT. Because it will never perfectly amount to $1K total after buying my chosen stocks, what do you do with the remaining amount? Do you add the remainder to the next month and do the same percentage of the new total? (E.g. this month I spend $950 on stocks, so next month I have $1,050 — do you then do 10% of $1,050 in BND?)
Thanks in advance.
