I live and work in the US. Recently moved to a new state and transferred to a new store in the same company. From October 2021 until August 2022 taxes were taken out for my current state AND my previous. I didn't think too much of it since I moved in '21 and had worked part of the year here and there. My W2 and every paycheck has had my correct address since I transferred. But looking back over my pay stubs this kept happening until August of last year. When I told HR they said it's fixed now and to tell my accountant. When I explained I work for a living and don't have an accountant on retainer she directed me to some third party company who pointed me back to HR since they don't handle tax stuff. So what's going on? What are my options? Typically I do my own taxes but I'm not sure how to proceed.
