When you see commentary online or in the media mostly saying a certain thing and then the market goes in a different direction, what is the explanation?

At extremes of the market it makes easier sense, e.g. if we are at lows and everybody has sold saying that we are going lower. This means there are no more sellers so it is natural for the price to go up and against the commentary and analysts.

But it is not always like this. Sometimes there is potential for the market to go along with what most vocal commentators are saying but it doesn't. It's like there is a quieter contingent who drive prices. How is this explained?
