Hello I’m 19 years old and have been interested in the world of finance for 2 years. I’ve been passively sitting in the background observing aspects of the environment to better gain an understanding before I enter myself. I’m not here seeking financial advice more like a shove into a more advanced direction.
Here are the things I’m interested in learning about and some things I can’t grasp yet
So etfs are a collection of securities such as equities, and bonds traded as a stock yet considered less risky with less reward. I hear S&p 500’s are a pillar everyone should have in their portfolio for diversification but with 100’s to choose from should I be going for multiple? Or only a hand few like vanguard, SPY etc.
Growth funds like vanguard are more risky with higher reward but for the most part I assume their track record isn’t proven yet is that correct of me to assume given it’s been around 20 years compared to SPY since 1993. I hear they offer high dividends but that won’t matter if the stocks don’t perform well.
Why does vanguard have lots of different etfs? From what I can understand it seems like they all have a different % of sectors that make up the total like the vanguard growth fund has 50% tech companies with the remaining being divided among the 11 sectors.
Do you have any YouTube channels or documentaries that explain the stock market, crypto or world of finance in general please provide them before I must learn as much as possible the education system has never taught me anything about this and I come from a less then average income household, I am here seeking knowledge to tip the scales into my favour.
