I have been doing some research into corporate bonds recently and I came across this 5-year bond from Disney that was issued 10/22/2019 for a fixed 9.5%. My question is why would a company that is as mature and stable as Disney have issued this high of an interest rate back in 2019?
Is this a bond that would have been available as an individual investor all the way back in 2019 or would this have only been offered to a certain company who could then sell the bond on the secondary market for way above par value?
Here is the 2019 report that talks about the 9.5% being the max price (search for 9.5): 2019-Annual-Report.pdf (thewaltdisneycompany.com).
The CUSIP for the bond is 254687CX2 but I haven't found a great website to share it that has the data publicly available.
