Should I/ can I ask for more money? Should I just switch careers?
I'm pretty disappointed because that is not nearly enough to keep up with inflation. I can't just quit and work for another company, because my role is very niche and the work is scarce unless you live in NYC or LA. I've been contemplating switching to UX design, IT security, or coding - but with mass tech layoffs that option is looking less secure. My dream is a WFH job.
We normally have face-to-face meetings with the CEO and manager at the end of the year, but one of them got covid so that didn't happen. I did submit a written evaluation listing all my accomplishments this year. If there had been an in-person meeting, I would have asked for a 12-15% raise. We usually find out what our raise is a few days after the meeting. It's an unusual situation and I'm not sure what my next move is.
