Idk if any of yall have been into a Spectrum office lately? The past several times Ive gone in theres a line of very hostile customers around the check in touch screens. They are always MAD, talking shit amongst themselves and at the employees. Like its enough to make my blood boil and Im not the one its directed at. I usually go when they first open, so these workers come into a lobby full of customers that are already foaming at the mouth the moment they clock in and have to deal with it all day. I really have never witnessed anything like it and I can't imagine how they dont have constant turnover. I never see the same workers.
Anyway my BF decided to get the fancy new flip phone. We're waiting in this environment, by the time we get to the employee hes already been bitched at 10 times, and people keep yelling at him across the room. We literally just treat him like a person, are patient when technical issues arise, not overly talkative bc we're introverted and hes working but we did empathize with him, but it doesnt take much to be nice and on his side. He very deligently tries to resolve an issue that results in us leaving and coming back later in the day. While trying to resolve the issue his customer service mask slips a tiny bit, he vents a tiny bit to us, drops a few swears (thats when you know youve bonded). We empathize. For the trouble, he does some shady magic and our internet bill goes from $75 to $35, permanently! The employee said he wasnt going to be at that job much longer anyway.
Cant tell you how many times Ive gotten a really sweet deal just by treating someone with a shitty job well.
Employees who are being mistreated by the company love to give away free shit to cool people!
EDIT: for context ive worked at truck stops and retail customer service all my life so when I say I havent see anything like it, I mean its bad!
I hope that employee has found a better job and is doing well. Its been a few months.
2nd EDIT for typos and clarification
