Probably old news, but yesterday it was a real kick in the cajones.

For those of you not in the loop - for years Spirit charged you a $18 per person per leg "Passenger Usage Fee" if you booked on their website. They charged you even more if you booked over the phone. You could avoid this fee by going to the airport and booking at the counter. This made it possible to knock down a round trip flight to as low as $32.xx.

Under the current payment structure the "Fee" is ~$8. Yesterday I found a round trip flight ORD-LAS for $44 on their website. Figured I'd go to to ORD and knock it down to $32 - nope, still came out to $44 at the counter. The print out I got at the airport brakes down the numbers differently between Fare/Tax/Fees than the breakdown I see when looking at the same thing on the website, but at the end of the day, there's that $44 total staring at me.

I'm not complaining - $44 to go from Chicago to Vegas and back is still comically cheap. Just would have been slightly better at $32.

TL;DR - Don't bother going to the airport for Spirit anymore, just book online.
