I'm in Washing State and I always read that if you make below a certain income you don't pay taxes. I was ill for a year and was living back with my parents during recovery but was able to work a couple hours in the evening driving for ubereats and Doordash to help out with bills.
When I filed my taxes, it said I owed $600.
I understand I didn't pay taxes because I was self employed (or independent, whatever it is) but I also thought that such a small amount wouldn't be taxed.
What's the deal?
