Hi, I’m an immigrant in Canada and just started working Q2 this year. My job requires me to have a certain license but to get said license, I need PR. While waiting to get PR, my licensed colleagues have been helping me with my work. When I was negotiating the Offer, HR, my superior, and I have discussed that they will factor this is in when they give me the salary compensation. I understand it perfectly well as I don’t have the license yet and my colleagues will shoulder a part of my workload.
When I get my PR, I would like to renegotiate my salary with HR and my superior, but don’t know how much to ask for. I wanted to ask my colleagues, but I’m not sure if it’s socially acceptable to do that in Canada. Any advice on how to do this, or any alternatives you can suggest? Any feedback would be helpful!
