I hope this is the appropriate sub. Im hoping to get advice on if there is a downside to the contracts, and what the smartest move here would be. Take the contract or stay at a lower salary?

Context: Im a software engineering student who works at a company as a software engineer. Its pretty easy and im doing this on the side of my study for 12-16h a week. Its fully remote and I can work my hours whenever i want to. Before my first payraise the average i would make was about 800. After my first payraise its now about 1300 a month up to 1600. All in all i cant deny my job is a blessing.

My job told me they are happy with my performance and feel like i fit in perfectly with them. They said they really like me and want to offer me a permanent contract, with another raise. This would allow me to work more hours according to them.

My Dilemma: The job is really easy and im not learning anything new at all. I have another year left of my study in which im planning to find another job after. They know about my plans

Does taking this permanent contract have any downsides? Will i be stuck with them? Or could I still leave if i would want to? I just dont see why they would give me this offer if it doesnt benefit them. Though they did say that i could work more hours with this contract if i wish to. I would prefer to ask my employer as they are really friendly with me but obviously I would rather play it safe when it comes to money and the corporate game.

I live in the netherlands.

Thank you!
