My husband & I have started to live more frugally and it's helped our savings a lot. We've still been going out weekends, but have changed how and where we go, so as to save more money. Just wanted to share a few of our tips and see if you guys have any good ones! (BTW not in the US)
- Search for free/ low cost admission sites/ museums/ parks/ historical sites
- pack snacks and lunch, drinks etc. (It's actually been a nice experience to picnic instead of going to a restaurant)
- Refill bottles at public drinking water facilities
- Travel with local transport instead of our car (Gas ain't cheap)
- We have a small budget for snacks & food if we want to treat ourselves. We sometimes search ahead for nearby, cheap restaurants with good reviews.
- No unnecessary purchases/ souvenirs (pictures are enough, things will just add clutter to your life)
- We plan overnight stays at places when they're not in season so we get a better rate
- Pick hotels with complimentary breakfasts
