Im about 40k in debt, and have been getting all sorts of mailers offering to help me get my debt down by 50 % etc etc.. I finally caved and called one...
At first, the guy seemed great, very nice and very helpful, joking with me, talking about restaurant's in my home town ( i swear he was just googling "restaurant in Fun_Musiq's home town), but he quickly turned VERY pushy, and very sneaky.
He basically said, hey pull out a pen and paper and start writing this down, and proceeded to just throw a bunch of numbers at me, so much so that i just got confused lol. I mean like rapid fire numbers, almost a joke.
I stayed on because i was still curious, and he eventually went on to tell me they would default on my loans for me, "which wouldn't effect my credit that bad, if at all" WTF?!?! and that i would be saving thousands of dollars by letting them do this.
I started to understand what was going on, but kept him on just out of curiosity at this point. Long story short, he sent me a docusign ( electronic document you sign on line) and when i told him i needed to review it, and did not plan on signing it right then and there, he got extremely agitated and told me my APR rate could increase if waited to sign the document and this was my best and only chance to get my debt down.
Gross. watch out for these predators!!
