I've been in my job for about six weeks. Really enjoying it, and really get on well with everyone, great company. My boss was head hunted and is leaving our team of three people, leaving us with just two who both used to report to him. The company wishes for his duties to be partially absorbed by another team and partially by me. They also want me to become the manager of the other member of our team. I'll now be the main contact for our team for the whole business too. I earn $60k. My boss used to earn $90k but he'd been in the post for four years.

To me, this is a material change in my job after only six weeks in post. They're being vague about how if I take on more responsibility I'll be recognised and rewarded for it down the line. I've only been in the job for a short time so I'm yet to fully prove my abilities, but they must trust me.

My question is should i be demanding a wage increase now (I feel my position is strong but weakened by my newly employed status), or waiting a few months to see how the new role and team structure is playing out? My instinct is telling me to ask for a raise now to $70k or $75k even.
